What is The Ferrers approach to SEND Practice and Provision?

At The Ferrers School the young person is at the heart of all that we do. We believe that successful outcomes are based on ‘learning the child’ and ensuring an inclusive school experience where education is equitable. By assessing and tracking pupils progress and attainment we can ensure that all students are being offered an appropriate curriculum and deliver intervention where required. The Ferrers School is committed to ensuring all pupils are hitting appropriate milestones and achieving their potential. By providing quality first teaching, a school community where every child is valued and has access to support and guidance, our young people can flourish.

We aim to develop confidence, curiosity for learning and aspiration to be the best they can be. All successes are celebrated at The Ferrers to develop well rounded individuals who feel valued, demonstrate resilience and are as independent as possible.

“Leaders are ambitious for all pupils. Leaders’ oversight of pupils with SEND or who are disadvantaged has transformed rapidly. The coordinator for SEND has restored the confidence and trust of parents”

The Ferrers School SEND Information Report

As part of the new SEND Reforms, schools and local authorities must provide a description of the educational and training provision that children and young people with SEN or disabilities can expect to be provided. This then forms part of Northamptonshire’s local offer.

Schools must develop and publish more detailed information about their arrangements for identifying, assessing and making provision available for pupils with SEN. The Ferrer’s School’ local information report can be found below:
