Student Finance England is the method by which many students pay for their university education; this is a loan which paid directly to the university. Students can also apply for an additional loan to pay for things like rent, study materials and general living expenses. This maintenance loan is means tested, based on household income. Students do not pay back any of their loans until their income is over £524 a week, £2,274 a month or £27,295 a year (before tax and other deductions).
