The Ferrers School Aspire, Achieve, Acclaim

Celebrate Rushden and Higham School Choir Concert

The Music Department took a group of 6 Year 10 GCSE Musicians to perform at the School Choirs concert that kicked off Celebrate Rushden week on Saturday 10th June. The performance consisted of local primary schools, Ferrers Saturday Centre and The Ferrers School which represented the senior students in the area. It took part in the walled garden in front of a large crowd made up of family and friends of all the local schools.

Tegan, Cerys, Genie , Poppy and Olivia performed two sets as a band, including a beautiful duet by Tegan and Cerys. Samuel performed three solo piano pieces lasting over 10 minutes and received by far the biggest applause of the afternoon! They all joined in the final massed choir performance of all the school taking part to perform ‘This is Me’ from The Greatest Showman.

A great amount of praise and complements were received with numerous people commenting on the standard, ability and professionalism of our students. Alfred Street Primary School said ‘your musicians were phenomenal! Really inspiring to our younger pupils.  Definitely gave them something to aspire to’.

This has provided valuable experience for the six students in their preparations for GCSE Music and has proved to be a big confidence boost in developing their goals to perform in front of larger groups of people. They are now putting preparations in for their end of year exams and their next public performances in Arts Week during the first week of July.
