The Ferrers School Aspire, Achieve, Acclaim

    Community Matters

At The Ferrers School, we are proud of our strong links with the local community.  We encourage all our students to make a positive contribution to the local and wider community.

Students are active citizens through membership of the East Northants Youth Council and the Higham Ferrers Community Safety Group.  All our Sixth Form students are involved in community leadership activities.

Each year, students work hard to raise funds for charities, many of them local.  Many community and charitable events form part of the rhythm of our school year – the Sixth Form Macmillan coffee morning, Remembrance Day, our annual Christmas hamper competition to support senior citizens in the local community, the carol service at St. Mary’s Church, Comic Relief and Children in Need activities, “Business Dragons” and Rotary Youth competitions, Folk Band performances at local events.

In 2014, the school was proud to host a production of “The Seven Lives of Henry Chichele” to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the birth in Higham Ferrers of Henry Chichele, the longest serving Archbishop of Canterbury.

In 2015, our students were delighted to see their work on the Skate Park come to fruition as this new facility opened in the town.   In addition, many of our talented dancers took part in the Eventide Project, a professionally funded Dance project linking with the anniversary celebrations for Henry Chichele the previous year.
